Paul Cam:
Hey guys! Here's a review on the new Indiana Jones movie. Sorry I have to post it here. My web design program is acting a little screwy. My Rating: 7.5/10.0 Indy’s back! After over nineteen long years Harrison Ford returns to finish the fight! With his whip in hand and his hat pointed straight, he heads toward adventure with new friends and foes in this fun thrill-seeking adventure ride! The movie takes place in 1957 where old Henry Jones, about 66, is still a professor and both his Dad and his friend Marcus (You know, from the Last Crusade?) have passed away. A convoy of soviet soldiers lead by Irina Spalko (played by Cate Blanchett) have captured him and they eventually lead him to “Hangar 57”. This is supposedly where many secrets are hidden by the government and hidden from the national public. The soviet soldiers force Indiana Jones to lead them to a secret crate where sure enough they find…An alien? Indy escapes from the soviet convoy and eventually meets a young rebel greaser named Mutt (played by Shia LaBeouf) and is told that Mutt’s colleague, Harold Oxley, was driven insane after finding a crystal skull. Indy and Mutt set on a marvelous quest to find the crystal skull and where it came from. And take a wild guess who wants it just as much. That’s right, the soviets. Not are the soviets nasty enough to actually think of stealing the crystal skull’s power, but they have also captured Oxley and Indy’s former sweetheart Marion Ravenwood (played by Karen Allen) from the original Indy movie. And so the incredible adventure begins with a race to uncover and reveal the secrets of the powerful crystal skull. First of all – This movie was a TON of fun. Second of all – So many great actors! Harrison Ford, Shia, Karen and Cate are all here and are all great. No matter how old Harrison Ford is, you can’t beat his acting or the character that he’s playing. We all love Indy! But this really isn’t the best of the Indy movies. It’s close to being just as good as Raiders of the Lost Ark but nowhere near being as good as The Last Crusade. But hey, at least it’s better than Temple of Doom. This movie is WAY better than that. There’s almost no competition between it and the Last Crusade. The Last Crusade is actually, in my opinion, one of the greatest movies of all time and if this movie where to be as good as it I’d be VERY surprised. But don’t get me wrong – It’s a great flick! I’ve heard mixed opinions on this movie from friends and critics. Most of the negative opinions were focused on the fact that the plot revolves around Extra-Terrestrials. I myself don’t care what they do with Indy as long as they don’t take him through the Temple of Doom again. I thought the film had really good action scenes. The ant scene was cool and so was the car chase through the forest. However, something from this movie is missing that I miss from other Indy films. All the Indy movies have been directed by Steven Spielberg. In this installment, it feels as if all the intense moments and sequences from the previous installments are missing from this one. In the end, I really can’t say whether you’d like it or not – You’re just gonna have to see it for yourself! I really like this film. It was fun, enjoyable and gave me a good feeling to have Indy back. This movie is a fun and enjoyable welcome back to the whip cracking treasure hunter. Reference:
